51. After receiving a new vehicle, as well as in cases of full or partial tyre replacement a driver should:
a)check the correctness of equipment of vehicle with tyres according to section 6 of the Rules.
b) in case of partial replacement perform the selection and installation of tyres on axles based on the technical condition of tyres;
c) check record correspondence in the tyre performance record card (Appendix 12) and put the signature in it;
d) check internal pressure of tyres and increase or decrease it if necessary;
e) at least once a month crosscheck the readings of hand-held manometer with reference manometer.
52. Before driving out a driver should
a) perform visual examination of the vehicle;
b) check fixation of rims and wheels;
c) in case of leakage from the tyre find out the cause and fix it (Appendix 13)
53. At least once a week check the pressure in cooled down tyres using hand-held manometer.
54. While driving a driver should:
a) take off smoothly to avoid wheel slip
b) in case of vehicle drift immediately stop, find out the problem and fix it;
c) avoid driving with lowered internal pressure of tyres;
d) carefully watch conditions of the road, speed down on heavy road parts (deep tracing ruts, railroad crossing, etc.)
e) avoid hard breaking when approaching halting points, near traffic lights, lifting gates, etc.
f) avoid hard hits of wheels against sharp metal and other high spots, driving up tightly to pavement edge stones and other high spots so as to avoid tyre damage
j) If it is necessary to drive with sideboards open they must be secured in order to avoid tyre damage
i) in case the anti-slip chains are used they should be selected in accordance with tyre size and used on heavy parts of the road only; it is forbidden to use such chains on roads with hard pavement
k)while in parking lot inspect tyres in order to remove foreign objects (stones, glass, etc.) stuck in the tread, sidewall or between twin wheels; in case damaged tyres need repairing use tyre repair box;
l) avoid overloading of the vehicle over the weight specified in the maximum permissible load capacity; control even distribution of freight and its safe securing (Appendix 14) <*>; small-size heavy freight must be distributed taking into account even load on all tyres.
